Catherine Amelia John-Camara hails from Jamaica and spent her high school and college years in Boston. She is an Associate Professor in English at the University of Oklahoma. Her intellectual interests in the Black Atlantic compares and contrasts the African Caribbean and African American literary and cultural traditions. She has published articles on a range of subjects. Her first book, Clear Word and Third Sight: Folk Groundings and Diasporic Consciousness in African Caribbean Writing, was published by Duke Press. Her current book project addresses Hip Hop and cultural formations in the US and Caribbean contexts.
